Meet the Team
Dr Elzette Rossouw
Veterinarian - PartnerI am the mother of 2 cats and 2 unruly Jack Russells. I have been with the team since 2007 and, despite all the grey hair gained, I love the privilege of really getting to know my patients and walking the road with them. I have a keen interest in ultrasonography and internal medicine.
Dr Alet Engelbrecht
Veterinarian - PartnerAfter qualifying in 2003, I worked in the UK for 8 years, gaining valuable experience in veterinary science, as well as pursuing my love for backpacking and travelling. I have 2 cats, Melo and Dash, and enjoy cooking, hiking and reading in my free time. My special interests are soft tissue surgery and dentistry.
Dr Madré Rheeder
VeterinarianI love all animals big and small but I hold a special place in my heart for my two rabbits, Noodle and Weasley. During my free time, I love spending time outdoors (hiking, gardening and kayaking), watercolour painting and socialising with friends and family. Professionally, I have a keen interest in soft tissue surgery.
Dr Marike Naudé
VeterinarianI have a sweet but mischievous feline companion, named Bella. In my spare time, I love to spend time with family and friends and enjoy baking and painting. I have a keen interest in feline medicine and ultrasonography. I am currently enrolled in a General Practitioner certificate program to expand my knowledge in veterinary medicine.
Dr Ezit Malan
VeterinarianI qualified as a veterinarian in 2016 and have dedicated my career to caring for small animals ever since. I love the variety and challenge that each day in practice brings — especially the opportunity to solve problems and think on my feet. Outside of work, I’m a busy mom to three young children and share my home with a dog and a cat.
Sr Jess Jooste
Veterinary NurseMy name is Jess. I'm a veterinary nurse originally hailing from the Eastern Cape. I studied a B.Sc. and a post-graduate certificate in education before pursuing my veterinary career. I am the mum to the most adorable Staffie named Abby. In my free time, I enjoy being in nature, gardening and reading.
Sr Ané Lourens
Veterinary NurseI have a true passion for animal care and nursing. I love being part of a team that helps animals feel their best. When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, being out in nature and staying active through running. I also love baking and expressing my creative side through art.
Sr Antoinette Smit
Veterinary NurseI am a qualified Veterinary Nurse (Onderstepoort, 2006) with a strong passion for surgery and anatomy. In 2010, I expanded my expertise in canine rehabilitation through a bridging course at the University of Tennessee. Today, I run Healing Hands Pet Physio, a mobile service dedicated to helping dogs recover from injuries and surgery in the comfort of their own homes. Outside of work, I enjoy outdoor activities, creative pursuits, and personal development.
Belinda van Eeden
ReceptionistAfter 7 years at the Animal Welfare Society, I was blessed to join the Durbanville Animal Hospital Team in 2006. I share my life with my partner Marius and 2 Pugs, Archie and Alice. They teach me daily about unconditional love, patience, dog hair is a fashion and it is okay to be obsessed with treats.
Shirley Moodie
ReceptionistGrandmother to 4 gorgeous grandchildren - 2 in Chicago and 2 in London! I am an avid sports fan and also enjoy baking, cooking and crossword puzzles. I started at Durbanville Animal Hospital in 2008 and enjoy assisting our wonderful clients & their precious pets. I also have a passion for horses.
Marelize van Stade
ReceptionistI’m Marelize, a dedicated mother of five and a proud dog mom to two beloved pets. I have a genuine passion for people and strong client care, and I always strive to bring warmth, empathy, and professionalism to every interaction at Durbanville Animal Hospital. Building connections with our clients and their pets is something I truly value, and I do my best to make every visit feel welcoming and supportive.
Sonia Meyer
ReceptionistI joined the Durbanville Animal Hospital team in April 2024, just before my wedding. Animals are a huge part of my life — I share my home with my husband Francois, our two dogs Frankenstein and Harley-Quinn, and our much-loved six cats. I also foster and hand-raise orphaned kittens and enjoy creating realistic pencil portraits of pets. Working here allows me to combine my passion for animals with helping our wonderful clients and their companions.
Jane Bezuidenhout
Practice ManagerI’m the Practice Manager for Durbanville Animal Hospital. I have been part of the growth of this busy practice since 1994 and have watched the staff grow and develop over the years. I’m a Sagittarius/Capricorn by birth, which means I am organised, wise and dedicated to my career, but have itchy feet and like to travel. At home I like to garden and read and take my elderly pooch, Molly, for afternoon walks. I also enjoy swimming, either in the sea in Mauritius or in my local pool doing aqua-aerobics. Presently I am attempting to learn French, which is proving to be difficult. I hope to continue organising the staff at DAH for many years to come.
Regan van Gee
Kennel AssistantI started working at Durbanville Animal Hospital in 2016 after years of working in pet shops. I have 2 beautiful dogs, Nompriechie and Sheba, and am adored by the cats in my neighbourhood.
Khaya Malima

I've just discovered a new passion: longboarding. I love rapping and I'm a huge hip-hop fan. I own 3 crossbreed dogs (2 of which I adopted) and one cat.
Kenneth Wana
Kennel AssistantI started my journey in the veterinary world in 1999. My passion for animals has led me to work in welfare practices, private practices, with exotics and in very mixed practices in rural areas. At home I have two dogs and a cat, and I enjoy both playing and coaching soccer. I live in Cape Town with my wife and two daughters, one of whom is in nursing college, and one is in high school. I hope to continue working in the animal world for many years.
